# Prop firm closures in 2026: who shut down, what happened to trader money, and what is only rumour > Prop firm closures in 2026 backed by two outlets or the firm itself: FundingTicks, Seacrest, OANDA Prop Trader, ATFunded, Alpha Futures and FundedSeat. - Source: https://setupbook.io/blog/prop-firm-closures-2026 - Site: SetupBook - Language: en - Published: 2026-10-28 - Tags: prop firm, news, closures - tr: https://setupbook.io/tr/blog/prop-firm-kapanislari-2026-hangi-firmalar-kapandi - es: https://setupbook.io/es/blog/cierres-de-prop-firms-2026-quien-cerro-y-que-paso-con-el-dinero - pt: https://setupbook.io/pt/blog/prop-firms-que-fecharam-em-2026-o-que-aconteceu - id: https://setupbook.io/id/blog/prop-firm-tutup-2026-siapa-berhenti-dan-nasib-uang-trader - vi: https://setupbook.io/vi/blog/prop-firm-dong-cua-2026-ai-ngung-hoat-dong-tien-ra-sao - de: https://setupbook.io/de/blog/prop-firm-schliessungen-2026-wer-schloss-und-was-geschah - fr: https://setupbook.io/fr/blog/fermetures-prop-firms-2026-qui-a-ferme-remboursements - ar: https://setupbook.io/ar/blog/prop-firm-closures-2026 Five prop-firm closures, pauses or break-ups in 2026 pass a two-source check, and a sixth rests on one outlet. The first came in January and the latest on 28 September. In most cases the firm promised to refund fees. Fewer spelled out what happens to profits that were not yet paid out, and the only report we found that says everyone was paid comes from the firm itself. If you hold a funded account, this matters more than the usual drama. A prop firm that closes can take your dashboard, your rule pages and your trade history with it. ## How we counted We listed a closure only if the firm's own notice or at least two independent outlets reported it. Several tracker sites carry longer lists. We left out every name that we could confirm only on a tracker, a forum, a single site in another language, or with no notice from the firm. A pause is not a closure, so we say which is which. Finance Magnates wrote in February that 80 to 100 prop firms closed in 2024, which puts 2026 in context. ## Quick timeline | Date | What happened | Where it is recorded | |---|---|---| | 19 January 2026 | FundingTicks announces it will wind down | [TradeInformer](https://tradeinformer.com/broker-news/fundingpips-shuts-futures-prop-firm-fundingticks), [Finance Magnates](https://www.financemagnates.com/forex/following-profit-cuts-and-trading-limits-prop-firm-fundingticks-begins-winding-down/), [BrokersView](https://www.fastbull.com/brokersview/news/proptradingfirmfundingtickstoshutdownfollowingrulechangesandtraderbacklash-320247) | | 4 February 2026 | Seacrest Markets says its prop accounts will close on 6 February | [Finance Magnates](https://www.financemagnates.com/forex/seacrest-ends-prop-trading-after-integrating-myfundedfx-shifts-focus-to-cfds/), [TradeInformer](https://tradeinformer.com/prop-weekly/why-did-seacrest-markets-stop-prop-trading) | | 2 March 2026 | A notice says OANDA Prop Trader will end on 31 March | [FTMO and OANDA notice](https://ftmo.oanda.com/press-release/oanda-prop-trader-to-conclude-as-ftmo-strengthens-its-modern-prop-focus/), [LeapRate](https://www.leaprate.com/forex/brokers/ftmo-to-close-oanda-prop-trader-programme/) | | 6 June 2026 | ATFunded, the prop unit of broker ATFX, pauses operations | [Finance Magnates](https://www.financemagnates.com/forex/atfx-suspends-its-prop-trading-operations/), [FX News Group](https://fxnewsgroup.com/forex-news/retail-forex/atfx-shutters-prop-trading-unit-atfunded/), [LeapRate](https://www.leaprate.com/financial-services/prop-trading/atfunded-pauses-operations-and-promises-refunds/) | | 12 and 13 July 2026 | Alpha Futures says its NinjaTrader agreement ended and closes its Premium Plan | [TradeInformer](https://tradeinformer.com/broker-news/alpha-futures-ends-partnership-with-ninjatrader-causing-havoc-for-traders-on-platform), [Finance Magnates](https://www.financemagnates.com/forex/ninjatrader-and-alpha-futures-breakup-turns-bitter-exposing-a-big-industry-risk/) | | 28 September 2026 | FundedSeat announces it is closing (one outlet only) | [Finance Magnates](https://www.financemagnates.com/forex/futures-prop-firm-fundedseat-closes-due-to-limitations-from-big-trading-platforms/) | ## What happened at FundingTicks? FundingTicks was a futures prop firm that, TradeInformer reports, launched in July 2025 under FundingPips. In December 2025 it brought in stricter rules. BrokersView and Finance Magnates list a one-minute minimum hold for scalpers, higher profit targets and a lower profit split. Both outlets report traders saying the changes reached back to past trades and cut profits and finished stages. Finance Magnates says the firm's Trustpilot score fell from 4.1 to 3.2. The firm's CEO defended the platform and said it had paid out more than $220 million. On 19 January the firm announced the wind-down and called it a strategic decision. Finance Magnates published the refund terms: - Evaluation and master accounts were refunded in full. Master accounts that hit their targets got an 80% reward split, and the others got 20%. - Live accounts in profit got a refund, 90% of realised profit and 20% of the starting balance. - Live accounts at break-even got a refund and 20% of the starting balance. Live accounts in loss got a refund only. Payments depended on the account's status at a cut-off date. Support was due to stay open until 31 January. On 30 January the firm published a press release saying all eligible users had been refunded and paid, with $30 million in rewards paid to traders. That is the firm's own claim. It gave no cut-off date and nobody has checked it. ## What did Seacrest close? Seacrest Markets, a CFD broker that had integrated MyFundedFX, ended its prop business. Finance Magnates reports that all prop accounts and open positions closed on 6 February 2026. Traders with active, unbreached challenge accounts could ask for a refund through a form by 28 February. Funded traders could request a final payout through the dashboard by the same date. Refunds were due within 30 days, first come, first served. Giveaway, breached and inactive accounts were not eligible. Finance Magnates gives no reason beyond the move to brokerage. Its futures prop arm kept running "for now". TradeInformer adds that refunds could be used as broker deposits with a 100% deposit bonus. ## Why did OANDA Prop Trader end? FTMO bought OANDA in 2025. A notice dated 2 March 2026 said the OANDA Prop Trader programme would formally end on 31 March. The stated aim was to give each business a sharper focus: OANDA would stay with brokerage and FTMO with its own prop model. Both the notice and LeapRate's report say OANDA would contact clients about their options. Neither says anything about refunds or payouts. Anyone holding one of these accounts was to get the details from OANDA directly. ## What does ATFunded's "pause" mean? ATFX launched ATFunded in October 2024. On 6 June 2026 it told traders it would pause operations for a full review of the business. Finance Magnates quotes the notice as saying it needed to "pause, stabilise, and evaluate alternative models". FX News Group headlined its story as a shutdown, but the firm itself used the word pause. According to FX News Group, the MetaTrader 5 environment went to close-only mode and trades had to be closed by 1 pm Eastern on 7 June. All three outlets say active accounts would get a full refund and funded traders with eligible profit would be paid under the firm's rules. No dates were given. Finance Magnates and FX News Group both report that the chief executive left earlier in 2026, and FX News Group adds that his replacement, a general manager, left too. ## Did Alpha Futures close? Not as a firm, according to the reports. It closed one product and lost one partner. On 13 July 2026 Alpha Futures said its agreement with NinjaTrader had ended on 12 July. That stopped it from opening new accounts through NinjaTrader and Tradovate. TradeInformer reports Alpha saying it would close all active Premium Plan accounts and refund subscribers. Alpha said Zero, Advanced and Direct accounts would continue and would move to its own platform, AlphaTrader. It also said it had paid out more than $25 million in about two months while running at a loss. Here the accounts split. Alpha's statement, as TradeInformer reports it, put pending Premium payouts inside the refund. Finance Magnates reports that traders posted screenshots of payouts that had been approved and then voided, including one of $10,000, and that only activation-fee refunds were offered to traders who had finished evaluations. We cannot tell from public sources what each trader received. The two sides also tell it differently. Alpha said that an earlier dispute over a $2.4 million overcharge was settled in early 2026 and that the remaining $225,700 was a credit. We found no on-the-record NinjaTrader statement in either report, so its side is missing here. ## What about FundedSeat? Only Finance Magnates covers this one in the sources we could open, so treat it with care. It reports that FundedSeat announced on 28 September 2026 that it was closing. The firm blamed limits from big trading platforms: it did not offer NinjaTrader or Tradovate, and MetaTrader was ruled out by its developer's licensing rules for prop firms. The firm said it would refund all active accounts and pay pending withdrawals and positive live balances. It gave no deadlines. ## What happened to traders' money? | Firm | Challenge fees | Profits not yet paid | Proof it was done | |---|---|---|---| | FundingTicks | Evaluation and master accounts refunded in full | Tiered rewards by account type | The firm's own press release only | | Seacrest | Refund form, deadline 28 February | Final payout request, same deadline | None found | | OANDA Prop Trader | Not stated in the notice we read | Not stated | None found | | ATFunded | Full refund promised for active accounts | Paid "under the rules" for funded traders | None found | | Alpha Futures, Premium Plan | Refund for active subscriptions, says Alpha | Disputed | Disputed | | FundedSeat | Active accounts to be refunded | Pending withdrawals and positive live balances to be paid | None found | "None found" means we found no report saying the promise was kept. It does not mean it was broken. ## What the firms say Each firm gave a reason. FundingTicks called the wind-down a strategic decision. Seacrest said it was moving to brokerage. ATFunded wanted a review of whether its model could last. FundedSeat blamed platform access. Alpha blamed a partner's decision and the cost of its payouts. NinjaTrader gave no on-the-record version in the reports we read. The reports do not tell us whether any of these reasons is the full story. ## What traders can take from it - Export your trade history and take dated screenshots of your balance and rules before a firm goes quiet. Seacrest's notice said access ended on the closing date. - Write down every deadline and keep the confirmation of any refund form. Seacrest's deadline was 28 February, and FundingTicks paid by account status at a cut-off date. - Request a payout as soon as you are eligible. A balance on a dashboard is a promise, and a payout is money. - Note which trading platform your account depends on. Alpha's trouble began with a platform partner, and FundedSeat blamed platform access. - Keep refund and payout requests in email, where there is a record. A journal that imports your own platform data, such as SetupBook, keeps your history after a firm's dashboard disappears. The [prop firm trading journal](https://setupbook.io/blog/prop-firm-trading-journal) guide shows how to set that up, and [what is a prop firm](https://setupbook.io/blog/what-is-a-prop-firm) covers the basics. ## Frequently asked questions ### Which prop firms closed in 2026? Five closures or pauses were reported by at least two outlets or by the firm itself: FundingTicks, Seacrest's prop business, OANDA Prop Trader, ATFunded (paused) and Alpha Futures' Premium Plan. FundedSeat's closure rests on one outlet. Trackers list more names, but we could not confirm them twice. ### Do I get my money back if a prop firm closes? It depends on the notice. The 2026 firms promised refunds of fees to active accounts, and most also promised to pay profits already earned. Terms differed: FundingTicks tied rewards to account status, and Seacrest set a 28 February deadline. We found no independent proof that every promise was kept. ### Did Alpha Futures shut down? According to TradeInformer and Finance Magnates, no. Alpha closed its Premium Plan, lost its NinjaTrader agreement and moved other accounts to its own platform. Traders disputed how payouts were handled, and Alpha says it paid more than $25 million in about two months. ### Did NinjaTrader close its prop programme? No source we read says so. The reports describe NinjaTrader ending its agreement with one firm after a money dispute that the two sides describe differently. ### Were there warning signs before the 2026 closures? Some reports mention sudden rule changes at one firm and a chief executive leaving another. These are not proof of anything, because many firms change rules or managers and carry on. ## Sources - [FundingPips shuts futures prop firm FundingTicks, TradeInformer](https://tradeinformer.com/broker-news/fundingpips-shuts-futures-prop-firm-fundingticks): report of 19 January 2026 - [Prop firm FundingTicks begins winding down, Finance Magnates](https://www.financemagnates.com/forex/following-profit-cuts-and-trading-limits-prop-firm-fundingticks-begins-winding-down/): refund and reward terms, 19 January 2026 - [FundingTicks to shut down, BrokersView](https://www.fastbull.com/brokersview/news/proptradingfirmfundingtickstoshutdownfollowingrulechangesandtraderbacklash-320247): report of 20 January 2026 - [Lessons from FundingTicks, press release on FXStreet](https://www.fxstreet.com/press-releases/how-to-wind-down-a-prop-firms-operations-the-right-way-lessons-from-fundingticks-202601301413): the firm's own statement of 30 January 2026 - [Seacrest ends prop trading, Finance Magnates](https://www.financemagnates.com/forex/seacrest-ends-prop-trading-after-integrating-myfundedfx-shifts-focus-to-cfds/): report of 4 February 2026 - [Why did Seacrest Markets stop prop trading, TradeInformer](https://tradeinformer.com/prop-weekly/why-did-seacrest-markets-stop-prop-trading): report of 6 February 2026 - [OANDA Prop Trader to conclude, FTMO and OANDA](https://ftmo.oanda.com/press-release/oanda-prop-trader-to-conclude-as-ftmo-strengthens-its-modern-prop-focus/): the companies' notice - [FTMO to close OANDA Prop Trader, LeapRate](https://www.leaprate.com/forex/brokers/ftmo-to-close-oanda-prop-trader-programme/): report of 3 March 2026 - [ATFX suspends its prop trading operations, Finance Magnates](https://www.financemagnates.com/forex/atfx-suspends-its-prop-trading-operations/): report of 6 June 2026 - [ATFX shutters prop trading unit ATFunded, FX News Group](https://fxnewsgroup.com/forex-news/retail-forex/atfx-shutters-prop-trading-unit-atfunded/): report of 7 June 2026 - [ATFunded pauses operations, LeapRate](https://www.leaprate.com/financial-services/prop-trading/atfunded-pauses-operations-and-promises-refunds/): report of 8 June 2026 - [Alpha Futures ends partnership with NinjaTrader, TradeInformer](https://tradeinformer.com/broker-news/alpha-futures-ends-partnership-with-ninjatrader-causing-havoc-for-traders-on-platform): report of 13 July 2026 - [NinjaTrader and Alpha Futures breakup turns bitter, Finance Magnates](https://www.financemagnates.com/forex/ninjatrader-and-alpha-futures-breakup-turns-bitter-exposing-a-big-industry-risk/): report of 14 July 2026 - [FundedSeat closes, Finance Magnates](https://www.financemagnates.com/forex/futures-prop-firm-fundedseat-closes-due-to-limitations-from-big-trading-platforms/): report of 29 September 2026 *This post is based on public sources as of October 30, 2026.
