TradeZella$35, $59 or $99 a month; 25% off yearlyBest forTraders who want broker sync, replay, backtesting and AI in one paid product, and who will use them every week.
TradeZella is the best-known trading journal of 2026: broker sync with more than 500 brokers and prop firms, trade replay, backtesting, an AI assistant and a large community. SetupBook is a free journal built around one idea: log the trade quickly, get the math right, and see what your mistakes and your own state cost you. They are not the same kind of product, and for many traders the choice is easy once that is clear.
The short answer. If you want broker sync, replay and AI in one place and will use them every week, TradeZella is worth its price. If you enter or import trades yourself and want a journal that does the arithmetic, prices your mistakes and costs nothing, SetupBook covers that without a subscription.
Feature by feature
Marks follow TradeZella's pricing page as checked on 18 October 2026. "Paid plan only" means the feature exists but not on every plan.
Where TradeZella is the better choice
- Broker sync. Over 500 broker and prop firm integrations mean trades arrive without a file. SetupBook has file import only (MetaTrader 4 and 5 reports, Binance, TradingView, any CSV).
- Trade replay and backtesting. Replay is included on the Pro and Ultra plans; manual backtesting is on every plan, and AI-run backtests on Pro and Ultra. SetupBook has neither.
- AI. Zella AI comes with 500 to 3,000 credits a month depending on the plan. SetupBook has no AI today.
- Stocks and options. TradeZella handles US equities and options in depth. SetupBook accepts any symbol but has no options model.
- Community and education. TradeZella's ecosystem around the journal is large; SetupBook is new and small.
Where SetupBook is the better choice
- Price. Free, every feature, no card. TradeZella has no free plan; the cheapest plan is $35 a month or $315 a year.
- Math you can check. Enter fills, stop and size and SetupBook computes the P&L, risk and R. If a number you typed disagrees with the prices, it warns you instead of picking one. The trader score shows its formula and every component.
- Mistakes with a price. Every mistake tag carries its money cost and win rate next to your clean trades, and the discipline rate sits on the dashboard. The equity curve marks every trade where a rule was broken.
- Your state, measured. A three-tap morning check-in (sleep, energy, mood) and a calm-at-entry rating on every trade, read against your results in four charts.
- Prop limits before the trade. The trade form warns when the risk you are entering is larger than what is left of the daily loss limit or the maximum drawdown.
- Language. English and Turkish, switchable on every screen.
What a year costs
TradeZella's pricing page lists no refund policy; check their help centre before paying.
Moving from TradeZella to SetupBook
If you can export your trades from TradeZella as a CSV file, use SetupBook's import with column mapping: pick which column is the symbol, side, prices, size and result, preview the rows, and duplicates are skipped. If your trades came from MetaTrader 4 or 5, importing the original broker report is usually cleaner, because it carries commission and swap. Tags and notes come across only if they are columns in the file.
Which one to pick
Pick TradeZella if broker sync, replay or AI is the reason you want a journal and the subscription is not a concern. Pick SetupBook if you trade forex, crypto, futures or a prop account, are happy to enter or import trades, and want the numbers, the mistakes and your own patterns in front of you without paying. You can try SetupBook's demo account from the user guide before deciding, and the glossary explains every metric both products use.
