SetupBookFree, every feature; no paid plan todayBest forTraders who log by hand or import a file, want the math done right and want to see what their mistakes and their own state cost them. Forex, crypto, futures and prop accounts.
Edgewonk$197 a year (often on sale for $169); 14-day money-backBest forTraders who think their problem is discipline and are happy to pay once a year for a psychology-focused desktop journal.
Edgewonk and SetupBook share a belief: most trading problems are discipline problems, and a journal should measure them. Edgewonk has done this for years with its Tiltmeter, which tracks how often you break your rules, a weekly automated Edge Finder scan, and detailed checklist and trade-management analytics. It costs $197 a year with a 14-day money-back guarantee. SetupBook measures the same things, adds a price to each mistake and a short daily state check, and is free.
The short answer. If you want a mature, psychology-focused journal and do not mind a yearly payment, Edgewonk is proven. If you want the same focus with mistakes priced in money, your sleep and mood read against your results, prop limits, and no cost, try SetupBook.

Where Edgewonk is the better choice
- Maturity. Years of refinement in trade-management analytics, including the Trade Management Optimizer, which tests how different exits would have changed your results.
- Automated imports from supported brokers.
- Weekly Edge Finder. An automatic scan of your journal for strengths and mistakes every Sunday.
- German. Edgewonk is available in English and German.
Where SetupBook is the better choice
- Price. Free. Edgewonk is $197 a year (often on sale for $169), with no monthly option.
- Mistakes in money. Each mistake tag shows its count, net result and win rate next to your clean trades; the total cost of mistakes and the discipline rate are dashboard cards.
- State, not only rules. A morning check-in of sleep, energy and mood, and a calm-at-entry rating on each trade, built on single-item scales from mood research and read against your results.
- Prop firm limits on the dashboard and as warnings in the trade form.
- Charts for crypto trades. Binance candles on the trade detail; Edgewonk shows no price chart.
- Phone and share card. SetupBook works on a phone and can share a trade as a public card with any detail hidden; Edgewonk has neither a mobile app nor share cards.
- Turkish. English and Turkish on every screen.
What a year costs
Moving from Edgewonk to SetupBook
If you export your trades from Edgewonk as a spreadsheet saved as CSV, use SetupBook's import with column mapping: choose the columns, preview, import. If the history came from MetaTrader 4 or 5, importing the broker's original report keeps commission and swap. Mistake tags and notes come across where they are columns in the file; otherwise bulk tagging on the Trades screen makes re-tagging quick.
Which one to pick
Pick Edgewonk if you want its trade-management optimizer and weekly automated scan, and a yearly fee is fine. Pick SetupBook if you want discipline and psychology measured with mistakes priced in money, prop limits, a phone-friendly app and no cost. Both reward the same habit: honest tagging. The glossary entries on tilt and trading discipline explain the measures.
